The Monash University Baseball Club is seeking a coach to help relaunch our Women's Baseball program for the 2025 Melbourne Winter Baseball League season.


The Monash University Baseball Club is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to assist with the recruitment, training, and management of the program, with the ultimate goal of reestablishing a team in the MWBL Sunday Women's competition from 2025 onward* 

The club will be aiming to recruit not only experienced baseballers and softballers but also talented sportswomen from other disciplines, and enthusiastic members of the community eager to explore the sport of baseball. 

Responsibilities 

Working alongside the club’s committee, existing coaching staff, and Monash University, the Women’s coach will share responsibility for: 

Recruitment

  • Organize and lead "Come and Try" events to attract new players

  • Engage with potential players and promote the program within the university and local community. 

Training and Development

  • Plan and conduct training sessions from late 2024 through early 2025. Develop and implement training plans tailored to players with varying levels of experience, including beginners. 

  • Organize match simulations to prepare the team for competitive play. 

Game Day Management: (Player/Manager Optional)

  • Act as the game day manager for the team during the 2025 MWBL Sunday Women's competition where applicable. 

  • Provide strategic guidance and support during matches. 

Qualifications 

Baseball Knowledge

  • A solid background in baseball is essential, including a thorough understanding of the game's rules, strategies, and techniques.  

Coaching Experience

  • Previous coaching experience is not mandatory; however, the ability to draft and execute training plans is crucial. 

Communication and Leadership

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate a diverse group of players, including those new to the sport.

Organizational Skills

  • Proven ability to organize events, manage schedules, and ensure a structured approach to training and development.

Compensation

Renumeration

Renumeration will be dependent upon experience and qualifications.

Contract Term

We anticipate offering an initial 2-year contract. In addition to financial renumeration, the successful candidate will also be able to access many of the Women’s Only leadership programs offered by Monash University and Monash Sport.

*Please Note – While it is the club’s intention to field a side in the 2025 MWBL Women’s Competition, the Women at the club in 2025 will ultimately make that decision. The club will support them should they wish to play in the Mixed Comp, the Women’s comp, or both competitions. Should not enough players wish to play in the 2025 Women’s comp, the coach will still be required to perform the responsibilities listed above but may not be required to complete a game day management role.
